Testimonies from Parents
Just wanted to pass on my "official" thanks to you both and all the Tutors for last week. [My daughter] had a great time and has come home with lots of new music with which to entertain us. She also gains enormously from mixing with you all and also the other participants...so please do accept my heartfelt thanks. She is already looking forward to 2010.
Thanks very much to you and your extensive team for putting on such an enjoyable week. [My daughter] had a great time and seems to have got a lot out of the social and musical aspects of the week. I hope the party went well and that you are able to have a rest this week.
Thank you so much for helping my son...who came all the way from Colorado USA, to reconnect with his Scottish roots. In the words of the Americans he "had a blast!"

Just a quick note to say thanks, on behalf of [my daughter], who had a complete blast at Tinto this year. It`s totally brilliant to see her confidence, both personal and musical take such a leap. Her fiddle has been welded to her shoulder since she got home and she`s costing me a fortune in new music books, so inspired is she. She loved all of it, the fun, the food, the parties, the sessions and even the wake up calls. She was barely home before she was complaining that she missed it. She sometimes feels a little 'different' from her peers at school because of her love of trad music, but at Tinto she found so many like minds, it`s been a real affirmation for her. You can definitely count her in for next year..and the year after..and the year after, and then she says she wants to come back as house staff! You all do a fantastic thing, making this opportunity for kids like her. Please pass on thanks to Gillian who was such a great tutor for her and to all who work so hard to make it happen.
[My daughter] really enjoyed her first experience at Tinto this year - so much that she wanted it to go on for another week. She also enjoyed trying the Clarsach for the first time and seems to have taken to it fairly well, so we are looking at getting her more lessons to see if it is a good second instrument for her development.
...it was so brilliant, [the participants] absolutely loved every minute of it, a very special and unforgettable experience. Huge thanks to all of you for enriching their lives and ours with all that exuberant, wonderful and joyful Scottish music! And also all the cheery social stuff!
This year was [my daughter`s] last as a participant, although I think she fancies herself as a future member of the house staff! Joking aside, Tinto has given her the opportunity not only to enjoy an excellent standard of musical tuition but to make lasting friendships with other young musicians. She`s grown considerably in confidence as a performer and ... Read morethat confidence has in turn benefitted her in many ways. She will leave home better equipped to cope with her new life at university and most importantly of all perhaps, she`s had the best fun getting here! I look forward to repeating the experience with [my other daughter]!
Thank you so much, to you and your team, for organising and hosting such an amazing experience for all those lucky young people who go to Tinto Summer School. You have managed to provide thses young people with a fantastic, full on learning experience as well as a brilliant sociable week full of laughs and new friends.
Many many thanks for the past week - [my son] has had the best week of this life- he says the only problem with Tinto is that you have to go home! He slept 17 hours straight the next night.His phone has not stopped since he arrived back with all the new friends he has made. The video is fantastic and really gives a feel of the great time had by all - I wish I was a teenager again so I could join in. The talent on show at the concert was beyond amazing.
