Bill Richardson's Band A long-standing friend and a grand accordian player, this will be Bill's 14th appearance (formally as the Eskdale Band but that's going back a bit!) at a Penicuik Folk Festival. Clarsach with Patsy Seddon Born and bred in Edinburgh, Patsy is best known for her work with Sileas (with Mary MacMaster) and the Poozies. Her glittering career has also seen her as part of the folk supergroups Clan Alba and Caledon. Patsy is also a highly respected teacher and solo performer and a great friend of the Club! Frankie Gavin A founder member of De Dannan, Frankie is regarded by many as the best Irish fiddle player in the world. His playing is technically astounding and he has a swing like no other. This is a rare opportunity to hear Frankie in such a close setting as he is more used to big concert halls and even Stadia when performing with The Rolling Stones. Palaver With Maureen Jelks, Chris Miles and Aileen Carr, Palaver are a folk supergroup. Individually they are three of Scotland's finest singers and together they have even more to offer. Their sensitive harmony singing is second to none and their on-stage humour and enjoyment of each other's company makes them a joy to watch. Trios, duets and solos will abound! Swing Guitars Tom Watson and Tam Gallagher hail from the southside of Glasgow, not the sort of place you'd expect to hear Hot Club style guitar. However, with inspirations such as Django Reinhard, Jan Akkerman and Billie Holiday, Swing Guitars have made a name for themselves with a CD to their name and a Danny Kyle award for best new talent at Celtic Connections 2001. Aileen Carr Aileen was brought up in rural Perthshire listening to the likes of Belle Stewart. She became involved in traditional music at a young age and passed through Ceolbeg (known as the only one without a beard). She is now a well known solo performer who also has a strong interest in the songs of Robert Burns. |

Kevin Mitchell With the music scene of Derry behind him, Kevin settled in Glasgow in 1969. Since coming to Scotland, Kevin has delved into the realms of Scottish songs and explored their connections with Ireland. Kevin has two recordings to his name and can also be heard as part of Stramash. |

Emily Smith Emily is from Thornhill in the South West of Scotland is now in the honours year of her Bachelor of Scottish Music at the RSAMD. As the winner of "BBC Radio Scotland's Young Scottish Traditional Musician of the Year 2002", Emily has been wowing audiences all over the country with her stunning voice.
